In Ancient Icelandic, innsæi means intuition with multiple meanings. It’s often referred to as “the sea within,” representing our boundless inner world. It’s in constant motion, full of visions, emotions, and imagination beyond words.
The Brief: The objective was to create a cover for Innsæi that avoided clichéd ‘wellness’ imagery. The design needed to capture the Icelandic concept of the ‘inner sea’ a space of constant movement and latent energy.
The Execution: We moved away from literal water imagery in favor of a high-contrast, abstract sphere. The dark exterior represents the “outer self,” while the inner molten textures represent the volatile, creative energy of intuition.
Technical Details: The illustration was built using layered textures to create a sense of depth and heat. Typography was kept minimal and clean to ensure the central motif remained the primary focus, maintaining legibility across both print and digital formats.
